Playbook: Executive Brief in Your Company Word Template

Project template walkthrough

This page walks through the built-in Executive Chief of Staff project template (executive-command-center) — choose it under New Project. File names and figures are an illustrative example, not a benchmark; your results depend on your files and the model you select.

Domain: Executive reporting
Target Roles: CEO, Chief of Staff, CFO, General Manager
Deliverables: Consolidated_Financial_Model.xlsx, Executive_Strategy_Deck.pptx, Executive_Master_Briefing.docx

1. What You Get

One request produces the full executive package: the financial model, the strategy deck and a Word brief laid out in your company's own Word template — your heading styles, numbered lists, page setup, logo header and footer. The brief opens with the key figures, then the recommendation, then the detail.

A Markdown copy with a 1-click PDF is optional; ask for it when you need a PDF.

2. Set Your Company Word Template (once per project)

  1. Open the project and click the settings button in the project header; stay on General.
  2. Under Company Word template, click Choose file… and pick your .dotx or .docx. A file outside the project is copied into sources/uploads/templates/; nothing leaves your device.
  3. Under Company deck template, do the same for PowerPoint (.potx / .pptx) so the deck matches.

Without a company template AMBA uses its neutral A4 template (clean heading styles, page numbers in the footer, fonts for Vietnamese, Japanese and Korean).

3. Walkthrough

Step 1: Add the inputs to Sources

  • Q3_Management_Accounts.xlsx — revenue, costs and cash by month.
  • Board_Agenda_Q4.docx — what the board wants to decide.

Step 2: Ask

markdown
Prepare the Q4 board package from the files in Sources:
1. The consolidated financial model.
2. The strategy deck in our company template.
3. The executive brief in our company Word template, key figures first.

Step 3: What AMBA does

  1. Builds the workbook and reads its calculated cells back.
  2. Builds the deck in the company deck template; charts and tables carry the workbook's numbers.
  3. Writes the Word brief with the template's own styles: a Key figures section first (3–6 headline numbers with units, each taken from a workbook cell), then the recommendation, the options and the risks.
  4. Checks the brief and the deck against the workbook. A number that is off by ×1,000, or a key figure that contradicts the workbook, is sent back for correction before the run completes.
  5. Refuses files with leftover template text ("[Company Name]", "Click to add title"), sample slides or styles the template does not define.

Step 4: Open the deliverables

Click a file in the deliverables list or in the file tree to preview it, then open it in Word or PowerPoint to present.

Changing the brief later

Ask for the change ("shorten section 3, add the cash runway to the key figures"). AMBA edits the existing .docx in place and keeps everything you did not ask to change; the previous version is kept as a revision you can roll back to.
