💻 System Requirements

AMBA is built on high-performance Rust and Tauri 2, consuming minimal CPU and memory compared to traditional Electron-based desktop tools.

🖥️ Supported Platforms

Apple macOS

  • Operating System: macOS 12.0 (Monterey) or newer (macOS 13 Ventura, macOS 14 Sonoma, macOS 15 Sequoia supported).
  • Architecture:
    • Apple Silicon (arm64: M1, M2, M3, M4, Pro, Max, Ultra).
    • Intel 64-bit (x86_64).
  • RAM: 4 GB minimum (8 GB recommended for large spreadsheet models).
  • Disk Space: ~150 MB for the application bundle, plus storage for your local project files.

Microsoft Windows

  • Operating System: Windows 10 (64-bit, Version 1903+) or Windows 11.
  • Architecture: 64-bit (x64).
  • Runtime Dependency: Microsoft Edge WebView2 (pre-installed on Windows 10/11).
  • RAM: 4 GB minimum (8 GB recommended).
  • Disk Space: ~200 MB for installation.

Linux (Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, Arch)

  • Operating System: Ubuntu 22.04 LTS+, Debian 12+, Fedora 38+, Arch Linux.
  • Architecture: 64-bit (x86_64).
  • Required Libraries: libwebkit2gtk-4.1-0, libayatana-appindicator3-1, libdbus-1-3 (the .deb package installs them).
  • Secret Storage (required to save API keys): a FreeDesktop Secret Service keyring: GNOME Keyring, KWallet 5.97 or later, or KeePassXC with Secret Service enabled. There is no plaintext or database fallback; without a keyring, AMBA runs but cannot save keys.
  • RAM: 4 GB minimum (8 GB recommended).
  • Disk Space: ~180 MB for installation.

🌐 Network & Firewall Requirements

  • Outbound HTTPS (Port 443): Required for communicating with your configured LLM reasoning provider (api.anthropic.com, api.openai.com, generativelanguage.googleapis.com) and official software update servers (ambadesk.com).
  • No Local Server or Port Listening: AMBA runs as a single desktop process without launching localhost daemons or unneeded web servers.
